I wrote a introductive tutorial to versioning systems for my team, I might as well make everyone benefit from it. Some additional details:

  • It's in english
  • It's a first version, thus not exactly perfect (usual disclaimer)
  • The system used for the examples is Subversion (nowadays distributed version control systems such as git, mercurial, darcs or monotone might be more relevant)
  • Beamer and LaTeX users are also interested, as it contains both slides and handouts in the same document, a technique that can (should, even) be used by teachers, for instance.
